Active Eyes Optometry Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I get a contact lens exam and contact lenses?

At Active Eyes Optometry we offer professional Contact lens eye exams and a wide and diverse range of Contact lenses options, including dailies, extended wear, multifocals, colored, hard and soft contact lenses. If you decide to opt for contact lens wear, it is very important that the lenses fit properly and comfortably and that you understand contact lens safety and hygiene. A contact lens exam in our eye care clinic in Surry will include both a eye exam to check your overall eye health, your general vision prescription and then a contact lens exam to determine the proper lens fit.

Where can I get Dry eye treatment?

Dry Eye Syndrome, termed keratoconjunctivitis (KCS) refers to dry eyes that irritate you constantly. This annoying condition is due to insufficient production of tears or a poor quality tear composition. When your eyes aren’t lubricated well, you’ll suffer from the sensations of scratchiness, burning, watery eyes, blurred vision and/or a feeling of something gritty stuck in your eyes. The particular cause of dry eyes varies from person to person, and effective dry eye treatment is therefore also highly individual – depending upon the cause.

What are Pink Eye symptoms, causes and treatment?

Conjunctivitis, or Pink Eye, is an inflammation of the conjunctiva. This is the thin clear tissue that lies over the white part of the eye and lines the inside of the eyelid. It is most common amongst children to get it a lot, and it can be highly contagious (it spreads rapidly in schools and daycares), although uncomftable it is not often serious. It is not likely to damage your vision, especially if it is treated quickly. Take care to prevent its spread and do all the things your doctor recommends, Pink Eye clears up with no long-term problems.
